Pictometry Images Assist Monroe County Sheriff with PGA Championship Security

(ROCHESTER, New York, August 8, 2013) –EagleView Technologies, Inc. announced the recent capture of high-resolution aerial images of the Oak Hill Country Club in preparation for this week’s PGA Championship.  The merged company of EagleView and Pictometry International Corp. provided the images to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office to aid in security for the event.

“The PGA Championship event at Oak Hill created new logistical and public safety challenges for the Sheriff’s office and having the most up-to-date images of the area is a critical part of a response plan if an emergency situation were to arise,” explained Scott Hill, senior vice president of operations for Pictometry.  Hill, a retired police captain, worked closely with Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn to plan the image capture.

Monroe County has been a longtime customer of Pictometry.  As a customer they have access to existing images of the property, however; the landscape changed significantly after the portable buildings, grandstands and other resources were set up to host the event.  Pictometry sent planes out last week after all event modifications were in place and captured new, high-resolution imagery that allowed the Sheriff’s office to pinpoint locations and plan accordingly.  Pictometry’s new Rapid Access™ technology enabled images captured on Wednesday to be available to law enforcement personnel for planning purposes two days later on Friday.

“With Sheriff’s Office personnel assigned and the coordination with state and federal law enforcement, all of whom are responsible for site security, and safety for over 50,000 attendees, along with traffic control and emergency response plans, Pictometry has been invaluable during two years of event planning,” explained Sheriff O’Flynn. “Now we have fresh images and information for our next and final phase – the PGA tournament itself.”

Pictometry’s President of Government Solutions, Robert Locke, said that the company’s images and tools are used by hundreds of emergency response teams across the country.  “We’re happy to support the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in their efforts to meet the strict safety needs that are required for an event of this caliber,” said Locke.
