The 2015 calendar showcases twelve of our team’s favorite Pictometry images out of the more than 28 million captured in 2013-2014 image season. January’s image takes us to Alaska. The Portage Glacier on Alaska’s Kenia Peninsula is just one of the state’s 664 glaciers. Unlike some other Alaskan glaciers that end their journeys by falling piece by piece into the sea, the Portage Glacier’s terminus is a lake carved out by the glacier over thousands of years. Portage Lake has only been visible since 1914 as the glacier retreated. (Image capture date 08/02/14.)
