May 2016 Calendar Image

CN tower

The 2016 calendar showcases twelve of our team’s favorite Pictometry images out of more than 28 million captured in the 2014-2015 image season. The May 2016 image brings us to the city of Toronto.

When completed in 1976, the CN Tower was the world’s tallest freestanding structure. Since then, other buildings have chipped away at the CN Tower’s record but it still remains among the world’s tallest, offering breathtaking views of the Toronto skyline and Lake Ontario.

The CN Tower has become such a well-known tourist icon that few of its visitors are aware of its original purpose: to broadcast television signals to Toronto and the surrounding area. The area around the tower has been built into a tourist and entertainment district with the addition of the Rogers Centre, the Toronto Convention Centre, Steam Whistle Brewery and the newly completed Ripley’s Aquarium.
