ArcNews: EagleView Among Esri Partners Developing ‘Matchless Solutions’

After wildfires CA featured

The Fall 2018 edition of Esri’s ArcNews highlighted organizations that are giving more people access to geospatial data and having a major impact on businesses and communities. EagleView was among the five Esri partners profiled in the article. EagleView has been an Esri partner for 17 years and an Esri Gold Partner since 2015, offering seamless integrations with Esri platforms, such as ArcGIS Pro.

County governments use geospatial imagery and data for a number of purposes, disaster response among them. The United States has seen an increase in severe catastrophic events throughout the past few years. Hurricanes, tornadoes, and hail events cost billions of dollars each year and leave entire communities devastated. Since 2017, California alone has experienced some of the most destructive wildfires on record.

ArcNews spoke to officials who used technology to deal with these catastrophic events:

In December 2017, Southern California was engulfed in multiple wildfires. The Thomas Fire was the most destructive, destroying more than 1,300 structures over 440 square miles in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties….

Following the Thomas Fire, a catastrophic mudslide in January left roads and properties inaccessible in southern Santa Barbara County. Officials couldn’t travel around to assess the damage, and evacuated property owners were unsure of what they would come home to, if anything….

“We wanted constituents to… be prepared for what they’d face once they were able to access their properties,” said Aimee Strub, the information systems manager for Santa Barbara County’s Clerk, Recorder, Assessor and Elections Office.

The county turned to EagleView’s imagery and data, as well as Esri applications, to answer property-related questions for constituents and enhance disaster response efforts. Read more on ArcNews >>
