February 2017 Calendar Image

The 2017 calendar showcases twelve of our team’s favorite Pictometry images out of the millions captured throughout the year. The February 2017 image brings us to the Midwest.

Partway up Usery Mountain in the middle of the Arizona desert sits this arrow directing pilots towards Phoenix, AZ, located just twenty miles to the west of the sign.

Constructed over a five-year period by a troop of Boy Scouts in the 1950s, each letter measures roughly one hundred feet high and twelve feet wide; altogether, the sign is comparable to the size of the Eiffel Tower. (Image coordinates: 33.492003, -111.629541)
