Claims Adjusters Use Our Pre-Inspection Report to ‘Know Before They Go’

Aerial view of outlined home with property attributes like Roof Material, Roof Age, Roof Facet Count, and Roof Pitch highlighted over the building.
Adjusters use 11 property attributes to triage claims and plan for inspections.

Surprises at a loss site — like finding multiple structures or steep-and-high roof — can frustrate an adjuster and slow down an inspection.

Adjusters can now use our pre-inspection report to gain more answers about a property before an inspection. Armed with more information ahead of a site visit, adjusters can triage claims better, arrive with the right equipment and reduce cycle times.

Our pre-inspection report includes 11 pieces of information that help adjusters learn about a roof’s complexity and a property’s accessibility.

The 11 Property Attributes

Roof Age
Roof Age Reason
Roof Material Type
Solar Panels Presence
Predominant Pitch
Minimum Eave Height
Maximum Eave Height
Roof Area Estimate
Roof Facet Count
Presence of a Fence
Structure Count

Each property attribute provides valuable information for claims planning and decision-making. Examples are:

Attribute NameDescription
Roof AgeThe number of years since the roof was installed. A valuable attribute to calculate the depreciation on a roof.
Roof MaterialImportant for claims triage and determining which inspection method is best — a walk on the roof, drone inspection or inspection from a ladder.
Predominant PitchIndicates if a roof is ‘steep and high’ and more than a 7/12 or 8/12 pitch. Helps an adjuster choose the right equipment or know to call in a ladder-assist company.
Minimum Eave HeightImportant for knowing if a specific type of ladder will reach the eaves of the roof.
Roof Facet CountIs an indicator for the complexity of a roof. If a roof has many facets, an adjuster will benefit from ordering a roof report before the inspection.
Presence of a Fence (and other structures)Helps an adjuster know if a property might be difficult to access and might require a longer onsite inspection.

Property adjusters who have the best information can make good triage decisions, write more estimates onsite, reduce cycle times and improve the policyholder experience. Verified and reliable property data also reduces the subjectivity in the claims process.
