Connection Tips

How do I get connected?

Powering on the drone: Place a battery on the drone and hold the power button on the front of the battery for three seconds. The lights on the drone should begin blinking.

Controller to iPad:

  1. Open the controller arm.
  2. Attach the tablet holder to the controller, then the iPad to the tablet holder.
  3. Connect the short black USB-C to USB-C cable from the controller to the iPad.

Indication lights: When the lights on the drone and controller are solid blue, tap ‘Roof Inspection.’ Then select ‘Detect’ or ‘Quick Scan’ and you should see ‘Begin Flight’ on screen.

Password or Wi-Fi info: You should never be prompted to enter the Skydio Wi-Fi or password. If you see this, try removing the USB-C cable from the controller and iPad and connecting it again.

What are the initial troubleshooting steps when something isn't working as expected?

  1. Close the EagleView Drone (EVD) app completely while everything is still connected (remote to iPad and drone powered on with solid blue lights) and reopen the EVD app.
  2. Still occurring? Remove the battery from the drone, disconnect the USB-c cable from the remote control and iPad, close the remote control arm, close the EVD app completely. Reconnect the drone battery and depress the power button on the front for 3 seconds, open the remote control, attach tablet holder, connect iPad to remote control with USB-c cable, wait for solid blue lights on the drone and the front of the controller and try to access the flight in the EVD app again.
  3. Still having issues? Disconnect everything, close the app, restart the iPad, and try again.
  4. Issues persist? Reach out to Drone Pilot Success.

How do I pair the remote to the drone or update the remote control?

If there is a firmware update in the Skydio app, or if you experience connection issues inside the EagleView (EVD) app despite having the remote control connected to the iOS device with the short cable, you may need to re-pair the remote control to the drone or allow the updates to the remote control.

  1. Power on the drone and wait for lights to be solid blue
  2. Plug one end of the long, charging cable into the drone
  3. Open the remote-control arm and plug the other end of the cable into the remote control
  4. Watch the lights on the remote control (can take upwards of three minutes if there is an update), lights may change from blue to white to green, the lights may flash
  5. When the lights on the remote control remain solid blue, you can disconnect the long cable from both the drone and the remote control

The Skydio app is continually asking for email/activation code- how do I move forward?

  1. Power on the drone and connect the controller to the iPad with short USB-c cable
  2. Open Settings on the iPad and connect to the drone’s Wi-Fi
  3. Tap on Skydio2P-xxxx (blue check indicates connection)
  4. Open the EagleView Drone app, expect to see “Internet Connection Required” ignore this and press OK, continue inspection
  5. If connection continues to fail, unplug the USB-c from the iPad and plug it back in.
  6. The remote control may need to be re-paired with the drone. See above**

Skydio App and Firmware

I don’t have the correct Skydio firmware version and no update is available- what do I do?

If the flight will not proceed with setting boundary, or is exhibiting other odd behaviors, this may be a symptom of the wrong firmware being installed.

**Please note that all drones are shipped with the current/correct firmware version installed, but if the pilot entered an incorrect email address, they may have updated to a consumer/enterprise version that is not compatible with autonomous flight**

Please verify the email address used to log in to the Skydio app and the firmware version.

  • To check the email address, open the Skydio app, tap on “info” in the lower right corner, scroll down to Support and tap on About. What is the email address showing by Account? This should be the same email address used to log in to the EVD App.
  • To check the firmware version, tap the <info in the upper left corner, scroll up to Devices and tap on the Skydio 2 name. Current Version should be listed in the middle of the screen in a smaller, lighter font.

Steps for logging in with the correct email:

  1. Open the Skydio app, tap on “info” in the lower right corner, scroll down to Support and tap on About, tap log out
  2. Close the Skydio app completely
  3. Reopen the Skydio app and when prompted input the correct email address (you may have to add the drone as a device once signed in with the correct email address, follow the onscreen prompts for drone activation)

Once signed in with the correct email address, follow the steps below to check for update. If correct firmware is still not available, contact Drone Pilot Success.

EagleView App and SD Card Formatting

What are common errors and issues with the EagleView Drone App and SD Card formatting?

*If the EagleView Drone App is ever deleted and reinstalled, the next time you try to connect the drone, you may be prompted to input your email address to receive the 6-digit activation code from Skydio. You will need access to Wi-Fi or a hot spot for this to be successful*

Unable to log in, username or password invalid in EVD App

  • You will need a Wi-Fi connection to sign in to the EVD app and to order jobs
  • If you are experiencing log-in issues and are connected to Wi-Fi, please reach out to Drone Pilot Success for further assistance.

GTK (ex. 1003 or 1009) – Error Signing into EVD App

  • This error comes when app fails to fetch platform access token
  • Clear History & Website Data (see steps below)
  • Power cycle the iPad
  • Contact Drone Pilot Success, request “clear user session in OKTA”

Error Getting AgentID/Clear Safari Cache:

If you receive the “Error Getting AgentID” message in the EVD App when trying to sign in:

  • Tap Settings on the iPad
  • Swipe down to Safari and tap on Safari
  • Swipe down to Clear History and Website Data, tap it and confirm

Insufficient Coverage message when ordering job:

Reach out to Drone Pilot Success to request SKU settings adjustment.

That Was Unexpected message when ordering job

  • Sign out/in, if this doesn’t fix the problem reach out to Drone Pilot Success.

 Format Logs Card

The first time you access the roof inspection inside of the EVD app, you will likely be prompted to Reboot the drone. Tap Reboot and allow the drone to restart and regain connection. After this is complete, you will likely see a message about Logs card not found or Logs card not formatted.

  1. Tap the Settings icon in lower left of screen (next to the airplane icon)
  2. Tap Format SD cards
  3. Tap Logs card
  4. Once complete, tap the Airplane icon
  5. Pilot should see Begin Flight

**If the message that Logs card not found persists, take the battery off the drone, and make sure that a second SD card has been inserted into the drone**

***If you continue receiving the logs card not found or not formatted error after it is confirmed that both SD cards are present and both cards have been formatted, remove both SD cards and swap their locations within the drone (logs to media and media to logs) and format the SD cards again***

Formatting SD Cards:

The SD cards should be formatted after approximately 10 Detect jobs have been flown and completed, to avoid the Low Memory message (See below).

**Please make sure that all jobs have been uploaded/completed prior to formatting SD cards. Once the SD cards are formatted, data for the previous jobs can no longer be manually extracted**

  1. Tap into Roof inspection
  2. Tap the Settings ⚙ icon in the lower left corner
  3. Tap Format SD Cards – in the left pane
  4. Format Logs card
  5. Format Media card
  6. Tap the Airplane ✈ icon to return to flight menu

Pilot gets a message about one of the SD cards being full/memory low on device:

If message is about the device you are using, not enough space available, please free up space, etc.

  • See if there are any unused apps or photos on their device that they can delete, while leaving the drone powered on and the remote control on and connected to the device.
  • Once you have deleted some items, go back to EVD to see if the message persists.
  • Remember that the drone downloads the images to the device and then device uploads the images to the cloud. The storage needed on the device is mainly temporary, but it must be available to fully complete the job.

If the message is that one of the SD cards is full/not enough memory during a live job.

  1. You will need to open the Skydio app, while staying connected to the drone and controller and manually delete photos from very old jobs
  2. Tap on Media in the lower left corner and scrolling down to very old photos
  3. Tap select in upper right corner and then tap on as many old photos as you want to delete
  4. Tap the trash can icon on the bottom right (delete)
  5. Once this is complete, return to the EVD and proceed with flight through completion.

***Only when the job has been completed, moved to the Previous Jobs tab, and uploaded completely should the SD cards be formatted***

Post-Flight Sync and Image Ingestion Issues

Why am I being prompted to sync media after immediately tapping into roof inspection?

If this occurs, you did not complete the post-flight sync on their previous job.

If possible, exit out of that flight, and navigate back to the Upcoming jobs tab

  1. Go to the last job flown and tap inspection>continue inspection>roof inspection
  2. Drone should still be prompting to sync media. Complete the media sync, then tap Complete Flight in lower left-hand corner
  3. Verify that there is a green circle with a white check mark next to roof inspection
  4. If there is, mark that job as complete and it should move to previous jobs and be queued for upload
  5. Take the battery off the drone, disconnect the remote from the iPad and close the remote control
  6. Reconnect battery, power on, open remote and reconnect iPad via usb-c cable. You should be able to go into the current job and fly as expected

If that previous job has somehow been completed even though the media sync was not completed, contact Drone Pilot Success.

Why is the Post-Flight Sync not progressing?

Post-flight sync progress bar shows kb/s vs. Mb/s or gets stuck on facet stitching.

  • If the outside temperature is very hot, or very cold, have pilot move drone to a more controlled temperature (like a vehicle).
  • Try powering down the drone or remove battery and power back on (swap battery if it is low).
  • Once powered back on, attempt the post flight sync again.

Why am I getting a Critical Files Missing error message?

If you receive this message, you should be prompted to complete a re-sync.

  1. Tap Re-sync
  2. Make sure that drone is powered on with solid blue lights and that remote control is on and connected to the iPad with the short usb-c cable
  3. Tap “Begin Flight”
  4. Tap the settings icon in the lower left of the screen and select “Re-sync Latest Job”
  5. Wait for the sync to complete (may take several minutes) and tap “Complete Flight”

If you try the re-sync and it does not complete, please reach out to Drone Pilot Success.

Battery and Charger Issues

Why won't the S2 Batteries charge?

When attempting to charge a depleted battery, the battery’s LEDs will flash a couple times then turn off. This could be on the drone, or on the dual charger.

Must follow these steps exactly:

  1. Have the wall charger plugged into the wall and the longer USB-C charge cable attached. The charger/cable need to be positioned near the drone so it can be plugged in later in step 4.
  2. Attach a battery that will not charge to the S2 (Remove the Gimbal Clip) – have the end of the charging cable in your hand, ready to plug into the port on top of the S2 (don’t plug in just yet).
  3. *Press the power button on the battery for 3 seconds and as soon as the LEDs on the battery and drone illuminate/start flashing…
  4. *Plug the charge cable into the top of the drone.
  5. Watch the drone’s LED lights and after approx. 30 seconds the LEDs will flicker and turn a different shade of blue.
  6. Battery should now be accepting charge.
  7. You can leave the battery on the vehicle to complete charge, or remove it and charge in the dual charger.
  8. If you don’t continue charging on the vehicle, just remove the plug from the top of the drone (plug it into the dual charger).

May also want to try the battery/charger update below

Charger Update:

  1. Download the latest updates to the Skydio app.
  2. Update your Skydio drone to the latest firmware.
  3. Place a battery in Skydio and power it on.
  4. Place a second battery in the Dual Charger.
  5. Plug the Dual Charger into the drone using a USB-C to USB-C cable.
  6. The LEDs on the battery attached to the Dual Charger will blink green to indicate the update is in progress.
  7. When the LEDs on the battery turn solid green, the update has finished. This typically takes 3–5 minutes.
